My Favorite Type of Philanthropy involves food and drink. Shocker, right?
Foodie Squirrel hosts a quarterly Happy Hour in Folsom, CA. We call it Happy Hour 4 Folsom Families. It’s a low pressure, super fun event. There is always a theme. For example, usually in November, we do a “Stocking Stuffer” themed event. We set up happy hour typically at El Pueblo Restaurant in Folsom. We collect small to medium items (we suggest $1.00-$5.00 gifts) for kids in our community. We have raffle items that are donated from local places. We also collect items for our seniors that need a little extra help. Things like socks, games, and food are always on the list of needs. It is a drop in event so there is no pressure to stay for any amount of time. You can come and stay for three minutes or three hours! We know it’s hard sometimes committing to big fundraising events for a lot of people so this works fantastic!

We also host a private, blind, wine tasting party at least once a year where we not only have a lot of food and wine but we collect food for the food bank. The guest that bring the most weight in food win a fabulous gift!
All donations are delivered to Twin Lakes Food Bank (they do WAY more than just provide food, check out their page) and items are distributed directly to families here in Folsom.
I also try to make time to volunteer whenever possible.
In typical squirrel fashion, I am all over the place with supporting charities. I wish I could help them all! Here are some of my favorite charities. There are so many! We donate to multiple organizations throughout the year. It could be a story we saw somewhere, a GoFundMe campaign or anything that tugs at our heartstrings.
Blue Star Moms We support all branches of our military!
And many more!
